Frederick Nealey Obituary, Death; – Charges have been brought against a 55-year-old man alleged to have shot and killed an individual on State Highway 288. Gregory Elias Rodriguez is facing murder charges along with several additional charges related to the incident that occurred on Monday. The deceased has been identified by his family as 57-year-old Frederick Nealey.

“He was a lively person, full of joy. A truly wonderful individual,” remarked Nealey’s brother and sister-in-law. The individual apprehended and charged in connection with Nealey’s death is Gregory Elias Rodriguez, who is facing multiple charges, including murder, unlawful possession of a weapon as a felon, and possession of a controlled substance.

Rodriguez has a criminal history that includes aggravated robbery dating back to 1988. “It takes a coward to shoot a man in the back,” stated Alton Nealey. Nealey’s family continues to mourn their loss while advocating for an end to gun violence.

“I wish people would consider their actions before drawing a weapon or acting impulsively, as the consequences can lead to a long life sentence, whether in hell or jail,” expressed Tyrisha Brooks, Fred’s sister-in-law.

“My brother was not a troublemaker; he loved everyone. He had the heart of a soldier and would give you the shirt off his back,” said Alton Nealey. They now remember him as a compassionate, humorous, and devout man.

“He was just carefree and joyful. He was Fred, a genuinely funny guy. I never imagined his life would end in such a manner,” Brooks reflected. “I hope the accused receives the justice he deserves for taking my brother’s life,” Alton Nealey added. Rodriguez remains in custody.
