Brandon Durham Obituary, Death; – Las Vegas police are conducting an investigation into a shooting incident in which an officer fatally shot a victim of a home invasion who had called 911 for assistance.
Upon their arrival at the residence, officers observed a man engaged in a struggle with a woman over a knife. An officer discharged his weapon, resulting in the man’s death at the scene. Subsequent investigations revealed that the deceased man was a resident of the home and was attempting to defend himself against the woman who had entered unlawfully.
Authorities indicated that the man and woman were acquainted and had a prior relationship. The event transpired around 12:40 PM on Tuesday.
According to police reports, 43-year-old Brandon Durham dialed 911 to report multiple gunshot victims outside his residence. He informed the operator that an intruder had entered his home through both the front and back doors and that he had secured himself in the bathroom.
Durham also mentioned that he was at home with his 15-year-old daughter. Officers responding to the call forced entry into the house after hearing screams and observing damage to vehicles parked outside.
Upon entering, officers found Durham and the suspect, identified as Alejandra Boudreaux, engaged in a struggle over a knife, which led to the officer-involved shooting. Boudreaux was not injured by gunfire and was subsequently arrested on charges including home invasion with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, and domestic violence.
The officer who discharged his weapon is 26 years old and has been with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2021. An investigation is currently underway to assess the appropriateness of the officer’s actions during the incident.
