Tyler Cochran Death; Police identify victim killed in North Austin deadly shooting; shooter arrested

Tyler Cochran Death; – Authorities have identified the individual who lost his life in a tragic shooting incident in North Austin. On November 1, at approximately 1:43 a.m., officers from the Austin Police Department responded to an urgent call regarding a shooting at Michelobos Sports Bar, located at 900 East Braker Lane. The initial report indicated that two men had sustained gunshot wounds.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered Tyler Cochran, aged 30, and Clayton Taitague, aged 20, both suffering from gunshot injuries. Tragically, Cochran was declared dead at the scene. Taitague was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries. As of November 4, he remains hospitalized.

Investigations revealed that an altercation between Cochran and Taitague escalated into violence, during which Taitague retrieved a firearm and shot Cochran. A security guard, who witnessed the shooting, intervened by firing at Taitague, according to police reports. Taitague has been taken into custody and will face murder charges upon his discharge from the hospital.

The Austin Police Department encourages anyone with relevant information to reach out at 512-974-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
