Sgt Devon Lindsay Obituary, Death; – A sergeant from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident early Monday morning, as announced by the department later that afternoon.
Sgt. Devon Lindsay, aged 26, was involved in a hit-and-run incident at approximately 5 a.m. on Old Gilliard Road, situated between Autonomous Drive and Duberry Lane. Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell confirmed that Lindsay was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
“This tragic incident could have been avoided, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague,” stated Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis. “We are grateful to the MAIT from the South Carolina Highway Patrol for their efforts in this investigation, and we trust that justice will prevail. We urge the community to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers, as he leaves behind a wife and young children.”
The sheriff’s office noted that Sgt. Lindsay had been with the agency since 2019, describing him as a “dedicated member” who “served his community with distinction.” The South Carolina Highway Patrol, along with the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
