Mark Channing Cash Obituary, Death; – The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has reported that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train early Thursday morning.

As per the coroner’s office, train crew members observed a man lying on the tracks at approximately 12:45 a.m., just 50 yards north of the 6th Street crossing, and he did not move despite multiple horn blasts.

Authorities indicated that the Norfolk-Southern train, consisting of three engines and 37 cars, was traveling southbound towards Atlanta, Georgia at the time of the incident. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Mark Channing Cash from Shelby, North Carolina. An autopsy will be conducted as part of the coroner’s investigation.
