Michael Silver Obituary, Death; – The Pittsfield Police Department announced the unexpected death of Pittsfield Police Officer Michael Silver. Officer Silver began his career with the department back in 2008 after graduating from the State Police Municipal Academy.
He was a member of the Berkshire County Special Response Team since 2016 as a Senior Tactical Operator and was assigned to the department’s Traffic Unit. Officer Silver was dedicated to the profession of being a police officer and was highly respected by his peers.
He briefly served with the Lee Police Department in 2015, was a certified MPTC Instructor in several areas, and received several letters of commendation, a Weapons Seizure Award recipient, along with a Drug Buster Award.
Members of the Pittsfield Police Department extend their deepest condolences to the Officer Silver’s family, friends, and those who knew him. At this time, the department will not be releasing any more information and request privacy for Officer Silver’s family.
