Leasi M Carranza Crookshank,Michael Wayne Wideman Obituary, Death; – Three individuals lost their lives in accidents over the weekend in Jefferson County, including an 84-year-old woman who was involved in a head-on collision on Sunday in Vestavia Hills.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as Leasi M. Carranza Crookshank from Vestavia Hills, Michael Wayne Wideman, 67, from Pinson, and Antonio Andrea Payne, Jr., 41, from Birmingham. The incident involving Crookshank occurred at 12:53 p.m. on Sunday on U.S. 31, situated between Shades Crest Road and Brookwood Baptist Medical Center.
According to authorities, one of the drivers entered the roadway from the hospital, traveling southbound in the northbound lane.
Crookshank was transported to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, led by the Vestavia Hills police.
Payne was involved in a two-vehicle collision at 12:25 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Finley Avenue and Fourth Place West. While further details regarding this incident have not been disclosed, Payne was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:41 a.m. The Birmingham police are conducting an investigation.
Wideman was also part of a two-vehicle accident that took place at 1:36 p.m. on Saturday on Marsh Mountain Road at Shadow Ridge Parkway in Pinson. He was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:47 p.m. No additional information has been provided regarding this incident, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Wideman’s death.
