Tyrek Burton Obituary, Death; – Tyrek Burton, aged 37, was tragically shot and killed outside his wedding reception at the Barber Park Events Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, over the weekend.
At approximately 8:49 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Greensboro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on Barber Park Drive. Upon their arrival, they discovered Tyrek in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel to save his life, Tyrek succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
According to family members, Tyrek had briefly stepped outside the venue to retrieve an item when he was followed by an individual who accused him of cutting him off in traffic. Witnesses reported that the suspect confronted Tyrek, demanding to know who had passed him at a nearby stop sign.
“Who was in the car? Who just passed him at the stop sign?” Brittany Burton recounted that her brother replied, “If I did, I’m sorry,” just before the assailant opened fire, fatally wounding him in front of his new wife. “My brother didn’t know this man at all. They had never met. He didn’t even ask for his name. This was a complete random stranger, and he shot him in cold blood,” Brittany stated.
The incident has left Tyrek’s family devastated as they grapple with the senseless nature of his death. “It was meant to be one of the happiest moments of his life, and it turned into something tragic,” Brittany expressed.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, and police are actively investigating the incident. No suspects have been identified thus far, and authorities are working diligently to reconstruct the events that led to this act of violence. In their time of mourning, the Burton family is urging the public to provide any information that could assist in identifying the suspect.
“See something, say something. It’s really that simple,” Brittany urged. “There are doorbell cameras in the area that may have captured relevant footage. Detectives are on the case, and I am out there as well.” Tyrek’s family shared that he had known his wife for over a decade and was a devoted father to her two children. They described him as a loving individual.
