Walter Blaser Obituary, Death; – The individual who perished in the house fire that occurred last week in Bertie County has been identified.
According to Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin, Walter Blaser lost his life in the fire at a residence located in the 100 block of Harmon Street in Aulander last Tuesday.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered that one person had managed to escape, but an elderly man remained inside.
Witnesses informed WITN after the incident that the resident of the home had died, while his wife was able to survive.
Rescue crews reported to WITN that they attempted to perform life-saving measures on Blaser, but unfortunately, they were unable to extricate him from the house.
The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, along with the SBI, ATF, and the State Department of Insurance, are collaborating to investigate the cause of the fire.
Officials have stated to WITN that there is no suspicion of foul play.
