Tiffany Sanchez Arrested; – San Diego police have identified a 32-year-old individual as the suspect in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle in Pacific Beach.
The incident took place at 3:45 p.m. on January 17, while the boy was traveling eastbound on the southern sidewalk of 1540 Pacific Beach Drive. He crossed the west alley of 4000 Ingraham Street, as reported by Officer Jose Perales of the San Diego Police Department.
Tiffany Sanchez has been booked into a county jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run leading to a fatality, and driving without a valid license, according to Lt. Ceasar Jimenez of the San Diego Police Department.
Jimenez indicated that Sanchez, whose residence details were not immediately available, was released on bail.
The woman was driving east on Pacific Beach Drive when she made a right turn into the alley on Ingraham Street, colliding with the boy on his bicycle, as stated by the SDPD.
“The driver paused for several seconds before accelerating quickly southbound in the alley,” Perales reported on January 17. “As she moved forward, the driver ran over the 6-year-old boy who had been thrown off his bicycle due to the initial impact. The driver subsequently fled the scene.”
It remains uncertain whether the boy was riding alone or accompanied. Although authorities have not publicly disclosed his name, the child’s mother has identified him as Hudson O’Loughlin.
He was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the officer.
The vehicle operated by the woman was later found in National City, although police did not reveal the circumstances of its discovery. Sanchez was subsequently taken into custody, as per SDPD.
Officer Perales stated that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.
