Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras,Diego Peña Jr Obituary, Death; – We are gaining further insights into three individuals who lost their lives in a head-on collision on the Grand Parkway in Fort Bend County over the weekend.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday along a segment of Highway 99. As per investigators, a family of four was traveling northbound just beyond FM 1464 when their vehicle was struck by a driver traveling in the opposite direction.
Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras, aged 27, and Camila Peña, aged 5, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Diego Peña Jr. and a three-year-old boy were transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, Diego Peña Jr. later passed away. The three-year-old remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
An online fundraiser indicates that the family was returning from a holiday celebration.
The driver, identified by deputies as a 28-year-old woman, was heading the wrong way. She was airlifted to the hospital by Life Flight with injuries that are not deemed life-threatening.
In a news release issued on Monday, the sheriff’s office stated that investigators suspect alcohol may have played a role in the incident. Currently, no charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
