Dr Eric Cordes Obituary, Death; – A neighborhood in Simi Valley is reeling after a married couple in their sixties was shot inside their residence on Sunday afternoon, ultimately succumbing to their injuries. Authorities indicate that the assault does not seem to be random, and investigators are now focusing on the victims’ stepson as a potential suspect.

Law enforcement was summoned to the Wood Ranch community shortly after noon in response to reports of gunfire at a residence on Hawks Bill Place. Upon arrival, officers discovered the couple suffering from severe gunshot wounds in the garage. Both individuals were swiftly transported to the hospital but were pronounced dead later that Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Dr. Eric Cordes, a well-established radiologist, and his spouse Vicki. Adventist Health Simi Valley characterized Dr. Cordes as a highly regarded medical professional who dedicated decades of service to the community.

Witnesses reported observing a man approach the home’s driveway and enter the garage before discharging his weapon. Authorities suspect that the shooter may have subsequently traveled over 70 miles to Chino, where officers found a burning vehicle and a deceased individual in Ayala Park. Investigators are working to ascertain whether this incident is linked to the shooting in Simi Valley.

Residents have been advised to steer clear of both crime scenes while investigators continue their work into the night. Police have stated that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

This case remains under investigation as detectives follow leads and await confirmation regarding the identity of the potential suspect.
