Hamid Boyd Obituary, Death; – The shooting occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, in the 1000 block of Powell Street, as reported by District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Police Chief Michael Trail.

The victim, who has been identified as 19-year-old Hamid Boyd from Norristown, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds after ShotSpotter registered numerous shots at the intersection of Powell and Spruce Streets, as detailed by the police in their release.

Officers promptly initiated CPR before Boyd was transported to Jefferson Montgomery Einstein Hospital, where he was declared dead, according to investigators.

Boyd’s family stated that he had received several Division I basketball scholarship offers but opted to enlist in the Army instead. They mentioned that he had “aspirations and plans for his child and mother” and was looking forward to his deployment, adding, “this was not the anticipated action.”

A collaborative homicide investigation is currently in progress, involving both Norristown Police and Montgomery County Detectives, as per the announcement.
