Damon Wayne Kabetzke Obituary, Death; – A truck driver from east Alabama tragically lost his life when his gas tanker tractor-trailer overturned on an interstate in Birmingham.
Damon Wayne Kabetzke, aged 47, was declared dead at the scene at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. He resided in Wedowee.
The accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 59/20 at Interstate 65. There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.
According to Birmingham Fire and Rescue Capt. Orlando Reynolds, no gas leaked from the 18-wheeler tanker truck, which was empty at the time of the accident.
The incident, which caused the interstate to be closed for several hours, is currently under investigation by the Birmingham police.
