Winston Ricketts Obituary, Death; – A 36-year-old man from Las Vegas is currently facing an open murder charge following the discovery of a 27-year-old who was found shot dead in the desert near Sloan in June. This development marks the latest chapter in a case that has been progressing quietly through the courts of Clark County for several months.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Winston Ricketts. They state that the grand jury indictment was issued after a lengthy homicide investigation, which included tips, digital communications, and various documents that detectives reviewed. The accused, Aaron Jackson Jr., was apprehended under a warrant and is being held without bail as he awaits a court appearance scheduled for December 1.

As per a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded on June 21 to a desert area located near the 17000 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard by Sloan, where they discovered a man with apparent gunshot wounds. This finding initiated a homicide investigation.

According to local news reports and court documents, 8 News Now has indicated that a Clark County grand jury issued an indictment yesterday, charging Jackson with open murder. The same source mentions that Jackson was arrested on a warrant on October 26, with a judge denying him bail. Investigators reportedly focused on Jackson after receiving an anonymous tip and reviewing messages exchanged between him and Ricketts. Court testimony has revealed that Ricketts succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, including shots to his back.

Hoodline was the first to report on the discovery made in June, referencing the initial release from LVMPD and the remote location near Sloan Road and Interstate 15. KTNV also reported at that time that homicide detectives were examining the scene and that police were soliciting tips from the public. Following that initial attention, updates from the public were limited until the recent filings from prosecutors and the grand jury indictment came to light this week.
