Katherine Gogela Obituary, Death; – The Lincoln Police Department announced on Friday that no charges will be brought against the driver involved in a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on November 7.
As per the investigation, a 19-year-old male was traveling north on South 84th Street close to South Cherrywood Drive when he collided with 42-year-old Katherine Gogela of Lincoln while she was in the crosswalk.
Gogela was transported to a nearby hospital, where she subsequently passed away.
Investigators reported that the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, with no evidence suggesting speeding or drug use.
Dr. Kate Gogela was a pediatrician and a specialist in breastfeeding medicine, having been part of the Lincoln Pediatric Group since 2017.
She completed her high school education at Lincoln East in 2002, later obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University, and subsequently her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, and a daughter.
