Jevon Rashad Battle Obituary, Death;- A man who had been reported missing was discovered deceased, floating in a river in North Carolina on Monday, according to officials.
The individual — 31-year-old Jevon Rashad Battle — was initially reported missing on November 3, as stated by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.
A week later, on November 10, the Rocky Mount police announced that a body was located floating in the Tar River near Rocky Mount Mills.
The Rocky Mount Fire Department’s swift water rescue team retrieved the body from the water, and authorities confirmed the identity as Battle.
The circumstances surrounding Battle’s death and how he came to be in the water remain unclear; however, the sheriff’s office indicated that his body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville for an autopsy.
Prior to the discovery of Battle’s body in the river, the sheriff’s office reported conducting “extensive” searches for him. These searches involved the use of drones and K-9 units, covering multiple residences and other sites.
The location where Battle was last seen is approximately 12 miles from the river.
