Delyshia LeShaun Molette Arrested; Semmes woman charged with manslaughter after child killed, another injured in crash following police pursuit

Delyshia LeShaun Molette Arrested; – A woman from Semmes was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter on Tuesday morning following the death of a child and serious injuries to another in a vehicle accident that occurred after a police pursuit, as reported by law enforcement officials.

Delyshia LeShaun Molette, aged 34, was processed at Mobile County Metro Jail at 5:35 a.m., according to jail records.

A representative from the Mobile Police Department stated that Molette was being chased by officers from Semmes when she crossed into the jurisdiction of Mobile police before crashing her vehicle. The children were present in the vehicle, according to police.

The Mobile Police Department indicated that their officers responded to a traffic collision at approximately 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Howells Ferry Road and Schillinger Road. They discovered that a vehicle had collided with a light pole.

The driver, Molette, did not sustain any injuries; however, two male juvenile passengers were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. One of the victims was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The Semmes Police Department reported that its officers had terminated the pursuit of Molette’s vehicle prior to the crash.

Semmes police indicated that they were investigating a theft case involving a commercial property where Molette allegedly threatened employees at a Publix store located at 2035 Schillinger Road North.

A Semmes police officer located the suspect walking along Silver Pine Road, but she fled on foot when the officer approached her, according to police. The officer managed to catch up to her, resulting in a struggle during which Molette scratched the officer’s eyes and bit his finger, causing minor injuries, as reported by police.

She managed to escape from the officer and ran into a nearby wooded area, according to police. After investigators identified her, officers went to her residence on Monday evening, but she was not present, police stated.

Then, shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Semmes officers discovered that she had departed the residence in a white Infiniti SUV, according to police. Officers observed the vehicle heading south on Schillinger Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, police reported.

When she refused to stop, the pursuit began.

After the pursuit was disengaged by an Semmes officer, the SPD said, the officer then came upon the vehicle crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Schillinger Road and Howells Ferry Road. At this point, the Mobile Police Department was contacted to work the accident, Semmes police said.
