Donald Frank Arrested;- The driver who hit the No Kings protester in Jackson Township has been identified and charged.
As part of its inquiry into the vehicle-pedestrian collision that took place on October 18, the Jackson Township Police Department gathered evidence, which included witness statements, photographs, and videos, as well as data obtained from Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs).
This evidence was examined in conjunction with the Massillon Prosecutor’s Office. According to the Jackson Township police, the evidence indicates that there was no suggestion that the incident was deliberate.
Donald Frank, aged 77, residing on the 9600 block of Lafayette Dr., NW, Jackson Township, has been identified as the driver involved in the incident.
Frank was traveling westbound on Fulton Drive, NW, and was positioned between a right turn only lane and the through lane.
As per the account of the pedestrian who was struck, they were standing 1 ½ feet to 2 feet away from the curb when the vehicle approached.
Frank continued straight, occupying both lanes as he entered the intersection of Fulton Drive, N.W. and Community Parkway N.W., nearly colliding with another vehicle before crossing the curb and hitting the pedestrian.
Police report that there is no evidence suggesting that prescribed medication or any other substance played a role in impairment at the time of the incident.
Frank faces the following charges:
One (1) count of Stopping After Accident in accordance with R.C. 4549.021(A)(1).
One (1) count of Marked Lanes in accordance with R.C. 4511.33(A).
The evidence currently available regarding the victim’s injuries does not warrant a felony charge, according to police.
The Jackson Police Department has submitted the BMV Recertification Form, which will necessitate Frank to undergo a medical review.
