Mary Alice Cunningham Obituary, Death; – A person who passed away following a two-vehicle collision near Maroa on Thursday afternoon has been named.
According to the Maroa Police Department, officers arrived at the scene of a crash involving a commercial vehicle and a small passenger car shortly after 4 p.m. at the junction of South Wood Street and Route 51.
Maroa police reported that there was a driver at the scene who was “severely injured.” The driver of the smaller vehicle, subsequently identified by the Macon County Coroner as 69-year-old Mary Alice Cunningham from Forsyth, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while emergency personnel cleared the area.
The investigation is still in progress.
