Norman Brown Obituary, Death; – Documents have disclosed new information regarding the individual arrested for the second murder on a Dallas Area Rapid Transit train within a week.
On Tuesday, law enforcement officials announced the apprehension of 27-year-old Harrington Hurdle in connection with the shooting that occurred on Sunday aboard a DART train.
Another passenger on the DART train, identified as 43-year-old Norman Brown, was fatally shot while the train was stationed at the Pearl Station in the Dallas Arts District.
As per an arrest warrant affidavit, Brown succumbed to his injuries after an individual seated next to him on a northbound DART Blue Line train discharged multiple rounds while the train was at the station.
DART police received information indicating that the suspect was a Black male donning a mask, a green jacket, tan shorts, and black socks, and was also in possession of a backpack.
Upon reviewing security footage, investigators concluded that the mask worn by the suspect resembled a Jason-style hockey mask. It was reported that he removed the mask while seated on a DART platform.
Authorities stated that the video captured the suspect boarding the train and subsequently sitting adjacent to the victim.
“The suspect then reaffixed the hockey mask, brandished a Draco-style AK-47, and shot the victim,” the affidavit indicates.
DART police disseminated a description of the suspect to other local law enforcement entities.
On Tuesday, they received a report regarding a man who matched that description. Following a brief chase, the individual was apprehended. At the time of his arrest, he possessed a Draco-style AK-47 and was carrying a backpack akin to the one observed in the security footage.
The suspect, later identified as Hurdle, was arrested and charged with murder.
What remains unclear:
DART police have indicated their belief that an argument may have preceded the gunfire. However, the affidavit does not provide any specifics regarding the argument or any potential motive for the shooting.
Additionally, law enforcement has not disclosed whether Hurdle and Brown were acquainted.
Hurdle’s mugshot has yet to be made public.
