Joshua Gonzalez,Edwin Abraham Guzman Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives late Friday when a vehicle operated by another man, who is suspected of being impaired, veered off Route 5 and 15 north, subsequently tumbling down a steep embankment, according to police reports.
Connecticut State Police have identified the deceased as Joshua Gonzalez, 25, from Springfield, Massachusetts, and Edwin Abraham Guzman, 21, from Chicopee, Massachusetts.
Authorities stated that they have charged 22-year-old Alexis Joel Garcia, also from Springfield, Massachusetts, with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs in relation to the incident, which occurred just prior to midnight near exit 85.
As per police accounts, Garcia’s black Infiniti G37 crossed over the highway, collided with a guard rail, and rolled down the embankment. Both Gonzalez and Guzman sustained severe injuries in the accident. Firefighters located them outside the vehicle in the woods and extricated them using ropes and a rescue basket, as reported by officials. Unfortunately, they later succumbed to their injuries at Hartford Hospital.
