Derek Goins Obituary, Death;- The coroner’s office has confirmed the identity of the individual who passed away following a collision between a train and a pickup truck in Marlboro County.
Marlboro County Coroner De’Aron Smith has identified the deceased as Derek Goins, a resident of McColl, who was involved in the fatal accident on Monday afternoon.
The Marlboro County Coroner’s Office arrived at Briar Patch Road in the McColl area at approximately 3 p.m. to investigate the deadly incident involving an EMD train and a Chevy F10 truck.
As reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the truck, which was heading west on Briar Patch Road, struck a northbound train at the railroad crossing.
According to Smith, Goins was declared dead at the scene.
