John Singleton Obituary, Death; The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a hit-and-run Saturday evening on Edisto Island.

John Singleton, a 65-year-old male from Edisto Island was identified as the deceased. Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Deputies report that Singleton was a pedestrian on Highway 174 at Pine Landing Road, and that he was hit by 53-year-old Janet Brown.

Brown reportedly struck Singleton and fled the scene but was later stopped by a concerned citizen. She was charged with with felony driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a collision with death.

According to the Coroner, Singleton was pronounced deceased at the scene from blunt force injuries sustained in the collision. Charleston County Sheriff’s Department is the investigating police agency.
