Craig Von Bargen Obituary, Death; – A 74-year-old man, who tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street in Palm Springs, has been identified as a resident from out of state. The victim has been named by the Riverside County coroner’s office as Craig Von Bargen, hailing from Peconic, New York.

The incident was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, near the intersection of North Palm Canyon Drive and North Via Las Palmas, as stated by the Palm Springs Police Department. According to Lt. Gustavo Araiza, Von Bargen was walking eastbound in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle heading south.

Authorities indicated that the crosswalk is equipped with a lighting system designed to alert drivers to the presence of pedestrians; however, it “appears that it was not utilized at the time of the incident.”

Lt. Araiza also mentioned that neither drugs nor alcohol seem to have played a role in the collision.

The identity of the driver involved has not been disclosed.
