Private Andrey Okunev Obituary, Death;- On Monday, officials at Fort Leonard Wood announced the identity of a soldier who passed away the previous week at a rifle training range.
Private Andrey Okunev, aged 18, was a National Guard soldier hailing from California, as stated on the fort’s Facebook page. The police at Fort Leonard Wood, along with Army investigators, are actively continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Okunev’s death, which occurred on Friday morning, according to the post.
Authorities have not disclosed the cause of Okunev’s death.
The fort is providing access to chaplains, grief counselors, and medical professionals for soldiers in need of support.
