Jannalise Santoyo Lara Obituary, Death; – A 19-year-old woman from Madera and a 21-year-old man from Ridgecrest lost their lives, while another man sustained serious injuries, in a head-on collision on Highway 395 in the Kramer Hills region of San Bernardino County over the weekend, according to officials.
The accident, which involved three vehicles in total, occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday at Alcudia Road, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
Before the collision, the Madera woman was driving southbound in a 2008 Toyota Camry, as stated by the CHP. Meanwhile, a 2010 Audi, driven by the Ridgecrest man, was traveling northbound. A 2019 Kia, operated by a 60-year-old man from Tehachapi, was following closely behind the Audi.
Preliminary investigations indicated that “the Toyota veered left into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with the Audi,” according to the statement. “Immediately after the initial collision, the Toyota was struck by the Kia, which was following the Audi.”
Officials confirmed that both the drivers of the Toyota and Audi succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The San Bernardino County coroner’s officials identified the driver of the Toyota as Jannalise Santoyo Lara from Madera. The identity of the deceased man in the crash has not yet been disclosed.
Paramedics transported the driver of the Kia to a trauma center for medical attention. The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation; however, officials from the CHP stated that intoxicated driving was not initially suspected.
