Yareli Padierna,Robbie Carter Obituary, Death; – Officers were dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of US Highway 290 North and Saratoga Farms Boulevard at approximately 11:55 PM on August 30, 2025.
One officer, who was refueling at the nearby QT gas station, promptly responded to the scene, aiding in the extraction of several patients from their vehicles.
Two vehicles were quickly consumed by flames.
There were numerous patients present at the scene. One individual was declared deceased at the location and has been identified as 66-year-old Robbie Carter from McDade, Texas.
Several helicopters and ambulances were required to transport other injured individuals to hospitals in the Austin area.
Upon arrival at the hospital, an additional patient, 13-year-old Yareli Padierna from Elgin, was pronounced dead. Four more patients continue to be hospitalized at local medical facilities.
The Elgin Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team, along with Crime Scene and Command staff, responded to the incident. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
