Matthew Butcher Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified a 60-year-old man from Lucerne Valley who was tragically struck and killed by a large truck along Old Woman Springs Road last week.
Matthew Butcher lost his life in the incident, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, August 22, on Old Woman Springs Road, also referred to as Highway 247, just east of Locust Road, as per the records from the San Bernardino County coroner.
According to officials from the California Highway Patrol, investigators found that a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling east just before the collision.
“For reasons that are still being investigated, the pedestrian entered the eastbound lane of SR-247 where he was struck by the tractor-trailer,” the agency stated in a written report.
Butcher unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
