Alan Lazcano-Solano Arrested; – A man is currently incarcerated following an incident in which he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian, resulting in the closure of a busy metro Atlanta roadway for several hours overnight, as reported by the Chamblee Police Department.
The incident occurred on Chamblee Tucker Road, situated between Buford Highway and Shallowford Road in Chamblee, shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Upon the arrival of officers, it was determined that the victim had sustained severe injuries, and the driver had already fled the scene.
Authorities indicated that due to the critical nature of the injuries, all attempts at life-saving measures were ceased.
Witnesses informed the police that the pedestrian was attempting to cross southbound from the driveway of 2498 Chamblee Tucker Road. As he entered the roadway, he was struck by a white van traveling west in the rightmost lane. The van continued westward without stopping.
While awaiting a response from the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office, the driver of the van, identified as Alan Lazcano-Solano, returned to the scene. He was informed of his rights and corroborated the events that transpired.
According to police, the driver explained that he left the scene out of panic and returned home, where he contacted a friend who drove him back to the location to surrender. The driver also mentioned that the van was parked in front of his residence at the Chamblee Heights Apartment complex and has since been retrieved.
Lazcano-Solano was apprehended and transported to the DeKalb County Jail. Authorities did not disclose the specific charges against him.
