Steven Voris Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the driver who lost his life in a collision in Fernley earlier this month. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on August 11th on U.S. 50A near 6th Street.
According to Nevada State Police troopers, 75-year-old Steven Voris from Papillion, Nebraska was operating a 2017 Honda CR-V heading east on U.S. 50A when the vehicle veered onto the right shoulder and struck a road sign. The car then continued eastward, crossing Lois Lane and traversing the front yard of a business, where it collided with another sign, crossed 6th Street, and ultimately struck a house before coming to a halt.
The NSP reports that Voris was pronounced dead at the scene; however, based on witness accounts and the condition of the vehicle, it is not believed that the crash was the cause of his death. An official determination of the cause of death is currently pending from the medical examiner, although the agency has indicated that foul play is not suspected.
