Gionni Jackson Obituary, Death; – The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has disclosed the identity of the three-year-old child who was tragically shot and killed in a residence in Struthers on Friday afternoon.
The young victim has been named Gionni Jackson. According to the coroner, Jackson was declared dead at the hospital shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday.
As reported by Struthers Police, Jackson was shot after he gained access to an unsecured firearm within a home located on the 400 Block of Spring Street.
Subsequently, a woman volunteered to transport Jackson and another individual to the hospital; however, she paused in a plaza near Matthews Road and South Avenue to administer CPR on him after he ceased breathing.
Boardman Police were then summoned to the plaza, where Jackson’s father informed the authorities that he had left his gun on a dresser while he went to the bathroom, and his son managed to access it and discharged it.
An autopsy was performed by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
