Agia Guirguis Obituary, Death; – A 73-year-old woman was identified Monday as the victim killed when a vehicle plowed through a home in Downey, also injuring a 24-year- old woman who was taken to a trauma center.
The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 9500 block of Gallatin Road, just west of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway, according to the Downey Police Department.
Police said a 24-year-old man from Maywood was driving eastbound on Gallatin Road when his car crashed into the residence. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.
The woman who died at the scene was identified Monday by the county Medical Examiner’s office as Agia Guirguis of Downey. Her cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries.
The driver was not injured, police said.
