Gloria Jean Jones Obituary, Death; – A crash in southern Indiana left one Indianapolis woman dead Monday afternoon.
Around 5:30 p.m., ISP troopers responded to a report of the crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 65, just north of the Sellersburg exit.
When officials arrived on scene, they found a passenger ejected from one of the two vehicles involved in the crash. The passenger was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. The CCCO identified the passenger as 70-year-old Gloria Jean Jones.
It was later learned during the investigation that a pickup truck was driving northbound when it tried to merge into the far left lane, striking the small car in the left lane that Jones was a passenger in.
Both vehicles lost control and spun into the median, causing the car Jones was in to rollover and come to a rest on top of the center guardrail barrier.
The driver of the small car was uninjured and the driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Northbound and southbound lanes of I-65 near the crash were closed for about three hours during the investigation.
