Mario Saldana Obituary, Death; – Authorities in New Braunfels have confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning.
The deceased has been recognized as 52-year-old Mario Saldana from San Antonio, as reported by a spokesperson for the New Braunfels police to KSAT late Monday morning. The New Braunfels Police Department has apprehended David Saldana, 55, and has charged him with murder.
City officials stated on Monday that they have not received any information suggesting a direct relationship between the suspect and the victim. Additionally, New Braunfels police clarified on Monday that the stabbing occurred outside the El Flaco Event Center, previously known as Legends Dance Hall, situated in the 5400 block of Interstate 35 southbound near Posey Road.
The incident took place shortly after midnight on Sunday during a call regarding a “large disturbance” in the parking lot, according to investigators. Authorities reported that Mario Saldana sustained an apparent stab wound and was subsequently transported to a hospital in San Antonio, where he was pronounced dead.
David Saldana has been booked into the Comal County Jail, according to authorities. A judge has set his bond at $500,000.
Investigators at the scene indicated that they collected evidence and witness statements that led to the identification of David Saldana as the suspect. Officers later located the suspect at a residence in the 200 block of Gruene Road in New Braunfels.
Authorities have stated that their investigation is still ongoing.
