Michael Pinegar Obituary, Death; – The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has disclosed the identity of a motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a collision that occurred in early September on East Platte Avenue near Knob Hill.

CSPD reported that officers were dispatched shortly before 8 a.m. on September 3 to the intersection of Platte and Don Juan Street following reports of an accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The motorcyclist was transported to a medical facility, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Preliminary information from CSPD indicates that the motorcycle was heading west on East Platte Avenue while the pickup truck was traveling east and attempting to turn onto Don Juan at the time of the incident.

The westbound lanes of Platte Avenue were closed for several hours to facilitate an investigation by the Major Crash Team. CSPD has stated that, as of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains active.

On September 4, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased motorcyclist as 35-year-old Michael Pinegar. CSPD noted that this incident marks the 38th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs for the year, compared to 30 fatalities at the same point in 2023.
