Hector Javier De Leon Saldana Obituary, Death; – The 32-year-old man killed after an ATV crash in northeast Bakersfield was identified as a Los Angeles Police Department officer.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Sunday, August 10, after 8 p.m., officers were called to the fields just south of the 11000 block of Highway 178.
When officers arrived, fire crews were working to extinguish the fire from an ATV that had crashed and ignited the surrounding dry grass.
Police said an adult died at the scene, while two others, who had been ejected from the ATV, sustained minor-to-moderate injuries and were transported to Kern Medical.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the adult killed as 32-year-old Hector Javier De Leon Saldana of Bell Gardens.
The Los Angeles Police Protective League posted Thursday morning that Leon-Saldana was a Los Angeles Police Officer in the Wilshire Area.
The post said Leon-Saldana died in ATV crash while camping with loved ones.
He leaves behind his partner Dulce, their 2-year-old son, his parents, and two siblings.
The social media post said, “As the family’s primary provider, his loss is felt not only in their hearts but in their daily lives.”
