Karin Ottenberg Obituary, Death; – A woman who was found dead in a rain barrel back in December died from a freak accident, according to the coroner’s new autopsy report.
Karin Ottenberg, 49, was found submerged in a rain barrel on her property a few days after she was reported missing. Police found her body curled up with her head down in the barrel next to her back deck.
According to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office report, her cause of death was drowning. Fluid was found in her lungs. Investigators said, however, there were no signs of foul play or suicide.
Officials believe she reached over the rail of her deck for something and fell into the rain barrel.
The events leading up to her death are still under investigation.
