Aliza Nisanov Obituary, Death;  The teenage girl who was killed and the girl who sustained serious injuries in the personal watercraft accident in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday are the daughters of a rabbi and rebbitzin who are well-known in the Bukharian Jewish community of Queens, New York, as indicated by social media posts and online records.

According to posts made on Tuesday night from the Instagram account bukhariancommunity, the 14-year-old girl who lost her life has been identified as Rachel Aliza Nisanov, while her 16-year-old sister is Aviva Bracha Nisanov, both daughters of Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov and Rebbitzin Ora Nisanov. The authorities have yet to disclose the names of the girls.

Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov leads the Bukharian Jewish synagogue Kehliat Sephardim of Ahavat Achim, which operates a well-regarded food pantry that provides kosher food to various communities. A biography of Ora Nisanov on the Bat Melech community center’s website, where she is employed, states that Rachel and Aviva are among the Nisanovs’ eight children. Both girls were students at Bnos Malka Academy, an all-girls yeshiva located in Forest Hills, approximately two and a half miles from the family’s residence in Kew Gardens Hill, where their parents were honored at the school’s annual dinner in 2023.

Paramedics transported the sisters to Broward Medical Center, where Rachel passed away on Tuesday evening, as reported by Arielle Callender, a spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Her sister Aviva remains in critical condition in the ICU, according to a spokesperson for Broward Medical on Wednesday.

The FWC is overseeing the investigation into the crash. This incident occurred just over two weeks after a barge collided with a sailboat carrying summer campers from the Miami Yacht Club, resulting in the deaths of two girls within hours, and a third girl who died two days later at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
