Colten Naef Obituary, Death; – The Utah Highway Patrol has confirmed the identity of the individual who tragically lost his life after being ejected from his utility vehicle in Box Elder County on Monday, September 23. The victim has been named as Colten Naef, a 28-year-old resident of Tremonton. A family member shared on Facebook that Naef was regarded as a “fearless firefighter.”
At the time of the incident, Naef was operating a UTV on a dirt road that intersects with SR-102, leading into a church parking lot, as reported by a press release from the Utah Department of Public Safety. Concurrently, a Chevrolet truck towing a flatbed trailer was traveling westbound on SR-102.
Officials indicated that Naef “failed to yield the right of way,” resulting in a collision with the right rear tire of the Chevrolet. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The Chevrolet subsequently jackknifed and came to a stop, obstructing the roadway. Authorities noted that the driver and passenger of the truck sustained no injuries.
Funeral services are scheduled to take place at Rudd Funeral Home, located at 111 North 100 East in Tremonton, on Saturday, September 28, at 2 p.m. Prior to the service, visitation will be available from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
