Christian Sluka Obituary, Death; – The family of a musician from Pennsylvania, who was reportedly killed by an undocumented immigrant fleeing the scene of an accident, is grieving the loss of the 23-year-old victim. Marcia Goisse, Sluka’s aunt, conveyed her sorrow, stating, “There was no one like him. He offered comfort during my difficult times. I cannot fathom how we will continue without him.”
Sluka was on his motorcycle, returning home after attending a performance by his cousin at a local bar. He was tragically struck and killed in Dormont, Pennsylvania, on Saturday evening. Noah Goisse, Sluka’s cousin, shared his recollections of that night. “It feels surreal. We were all together that evening.
I was part of his band and had just finished an acoustic set at a nearby bar. He came to join us, mentioning that he had a challenging week and needed to relax.” Sluka spent the evening with Noah and friends from 8 to 10 PM, assisting Noah in transporting equipment to his vehicle. “He remarked that it was a lovely night for a motorcycle ride. He donned his helmet and gloves, demonstrating his commitment to safety. He honked and waved as he departed. Then, he made a left turn, and that’s when the tragedy occurred,” Noah recounted.
Noah finds some solace in the fact that Sluka spent his final moments surrounded by loved ones and engaged in his passion. Marcia is hopeful for justice. “We trust in the legal system that the individual responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent. It is difficult for our family to come to terms with this loss, given the kind of person Christian was,” Marcia expressed tearfully.
Authorities have identified the driver as 25-year-old Saul Rivera-Ramirez. Officials reported that Rivera-Ramirez fled the scene with a woman and a small child following the incident. ICE confirmed that Rivera-Ramirez was an undocumented immigrant who had been previously deported.
“Saul Rivera-Ramirez is a noncitizen unlawfully present in the United States. He had been removed and reentered without authorization,” stated an ICE representative. “Following his arrest, we issued an immigration detainer to Allegheny County Jail, but it is unlikely to be honored.” Noah grapples with understanding the driver’s actions. “It makes us feel physically ill.”
