Branden Michael Whitcomb Obituary, Death; – The individual who was shot and killed by a deputy from Clark County in late July has been identified, as announced by officials on Wednesday.

Branden Michael Whitcomb, aged 36, from Vancouver, succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained to the head, neck, and torso, as reported by the county medical examiner.

On July 30, authorities indicated that a deputy discharged his weapon at Whitcomb near the intersection of Main Street and East 19th Street in Downtown Vancouver. Despite the provision of first aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

As per the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call shortly after 10:40 p.m. from an individual claiming that their son was threatening to kill them.

The caller reported that the son had forcibly entered their residence through the front door, was under the influence of methamphetamine, and had been consuming alcohol.

While deputies were en route to the location, the caller informed them that the suspect had departed the residence on a bicycle, and within moments, a Vancouver police officer reported that he had been seen with a firearm.

Washington’s Office of Independent Investigation is currently examining evidence and surveillance footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

The footage from body-worn and in-car cameras is also anticipated to be made available at a later date.
