Larry D Banks Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost his life when the roof of a Family Dollar store in Kansas City collapsed has been identified, and his spouse has initiated legal action against the corporation.
The Kansas City Police Department reported that Larry D. Banks, aged 69, was fatally injured in the incident that occurred near West 37th Street and Broadway Boulevard. On Monday, Banks’ wife filed a lawsuit against Family Dollar and the owner of the building.
The legal action names Arthur Fels Company, Family Dollar Stores of Missouri, LLC, and Family Dollar, Inc. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants were aware of the risk of roof collapse and that the building lacked structural integrity.
According to the lawsuit, the corner of the roof had been visibly sagging for at least two days prior to the tragic collapse. Additionally, a store employee had lodged complaints with the landlords regarding the roof for at least a week before the incident, as stated in the lawsuit.
Several other individuals sustained injuries during the collapse. Last week, a different lawsuit was filed against Family Dollar by a woman who was injured in the same incident. The investigation is still ongoing, with inspectors from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) participating in the inquiry.
