Dezhon Overton Obituary, Death; – A 26-year-old tourist from Kansas City, Kansas, was identified on Monday as the individual who lost their life early Sunday morning following a hit-and-run incident in Myrtle Beach.
Dezhon Overton succumbed to his injuries at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after being struck while attempting to cross Kings Highway near William Street, as reported by the Horry County Coroner’s Office. Another individual sustained injuries, but details regarding their condition have not been disclosed.
Myrtle Beach police apprehended Bryan O’Neal Thomas, 39, in relation to the incident. He faces two counts of hit-and-run, one of which involves a fatality. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to online jail records.
News13 spoke with a witness on Sunday who claimed to have observed the incident occurring shortly after midnight in the center of the intersection near 21st Avenue S.
No further information was immediately available. The Myrtle Beach police are conducting an investigation.
