Devon Smith Obituary, Death;- A convenience store employee in Pittsburgh is facing legal charges following a shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and another individual sustaining injuries.

As reported by WPXI, law enforcement officials stated they received notification of a shooting at a Sunoco gas station located on the 5000 block of Butler Street at 3:38 a.m. on Saturday. An investigation revealed that a confrontation occurred inside the store before escalating to the parking lot, where multiple shell casings were found at the scene.

Shortly thereafter, two men suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at a nearby hospital. One of the individuals, later identified as Devon Smith, succumbed to injuries inflicted on his chest and back. The other man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was shot in the leg but is reported to be in stable condition.

Randell Antonio Tate, a 22-year-old resident of Pittsburgh, was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident, facing charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

According to police, surveillance footage indicated that Tate was employed at the store that evening and had engaged in dialogue with both victims. However, the conversation escalated, leading Tate to draw a firearm. The two victims were directed into the cashier’s area, beyond a bulletproof glass door.

Tate then discharged his weapon at the two men and pursued them within the store, as per police reports. The individual who was shot in the leg informed law enforcement that he had visited the store to seek an apology from Tate regarding a disagreement that had occurred over a year prior.

Tate explained to police that he fired at them out of fear that they were about to draw a weapon on him. Following the shooting, Tate contacted 911, as reported by WPXI. Authorities noted that he possessed a legally registered firearm.
