Jordan Anthony Hansen Obituary, Death; 25-year-old killed in Wareham crash remembered for his humor and compassionate nature

Jordan Anthony Hansen Obituary, Death; – A 25-year-old individual who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident in Wareham on July 25 is fondly remembered for his “caring and compassionate nature” and was “always willing to assist anyone in need,” as stated in his obituary.

At approximately 5:05 p.m. on July 25, the Wareham police were dispatched to a collision near 2628 Cranberry Hwy., according to the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz. Emergency responders discovered Jordan Anthony Hansen lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. He was initially transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham before being transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Raymond Cardoza, a 67-year-old man, is currently facing charges of drunken driving, manslaughter, and hit-and-run in relation to the incident, as reported by Cruz’s office. Cardoza and his vehicle were located a quarter-mile from the site of the crash. He was apprehended after being identified as the driver involved in the incident, according to Cruz’s office.

Cardoza has been charged with operating under the influence resulting in manslaughter, operating under the influence — 4th offense, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Hansen was born in New Bedford and spent his entire life in the nearby town of Mattapoisett, as noted in his obituary.

He graduated from Old Rochester Regional High School in 2018 and subsequently earned an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology from Massachusetts Bay Community College. He was employed as an automotive technician at a GMC dealership in Wareham. In his leisure time, Hansen enjoyed activities such as fishing at the Mattapoisett train bridge, snowboarding in New Hampshire, playing pool, and biking.

“He rarely missed an opportunity to spend time with his friends,” his obituary states. “His sense of humor and fondness for good company will be profoundly missed.”
A funeral service for Hansen is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 16 Temple Place in Fairhaven.
