Maleah Bess Obituary, Death; – A man who has been accused of murdering his wife, which resulted in a standoff at an apartment complex in Jackson, was denied bail during a court session.
Ron Allen, aged 52, faces charges related to the shooting death of 24-year-old Maleah Bess on July 31 at the Westwood Apartments located on Robinson Street in Jackson.
A police officer from Jackson provided testimony during the hearing at Jackson Municipal Court, stating that witnesses observed Allen with a green revolver while Bess was seen clutching her side. The officer noted that Allen’s shirt was covered in blood.
The officer further testified that Bess sustained multiple gunshot wounds across her body. Two witnesses informed the police that they had called Bess to check on her, and Allen answered the call, claiming that he had killed her, as reported by the officer.
After a standoff that extended beyond two hours, Allen surrendered to the police.
One of Bess’s friends, Maniesha Simmons, mentioned that Bess had moved out of the residence she shared with Allen due to concerns for her safety. Simmons indicated that the relationship between the couple had been tumultuous. She also stated that Allen had been appearing at the Westwood Apartments, where Bess was employed, and had been harassing her in the days leading up to the shooting.
Additionally, Allen is facing a separate DUI charge. Testimony revealed that he had recently attended rehabilitation in New Jersey, where he spent 29 days.
