Irah Sok Obituary, Death; – A third individual has been apprehended in connection with the 2022 murder of an Everett woman during a home invasion.
A 24-year-old female was identified and taken into custody on Wednesday at a parking lot in Renton, as reported by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). She is one of three individuals charged with unlawfully entering a residence on 96th Street Southeast in the early hours of August 19, 2022, where they shot and killed 36-year-old Irah Sok. The suspects also committed theft, making off with luxury items valued at thousands of dollars.
Authorities stated that the husband of the victim went to a neighbor’s residence to call 911 after the intruders fled the scene on foot. A child was present in the home during the incident. The sheriff’s office confirmed that both the husband and child were unharmed.
In August 2024, 28-year-old Kevin Thissel and 23-year-old Chris Johnson faced federal charges related to a series of armed robberies. These robberies, including the one that resulted in Sok’s death, were believed to have specifically targeted Asian families across western Washington, according to federal prosecutors in August 2024. The federal indictment encompassed a total of seven robberies and assaults.
“They instilled fear in families,” remarked then-U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington, Tessa Gorman, in August 2024. “They traumatized children within our communities throughout the western district of Washington. Their actions involved robbery, burglary, kidnapping, and murder. They wielded fear as a means to dominate their victims and to instill terror within our communities.”
The third suspect is anticipated to appear in court in Snohomish County at 1 p.m. on Thursday. The SCSO has indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Tip Line at 425-388-3845.
