Brian Hanson Obituary, Death; – On Tuesday, an employee of the Sibanye-Stillwater Mine who lost his life in an accident was identified.

The Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office reported that 50-year-old Brian Hanson from Laurel was fatally injured on Saturday morning in what mine officials have characterized as an electrical incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, which also functions as the county coroner’s office, Hanson’s death was attributed to electrocution. The agency announced in a press release that further investigation into Hanson’s death will take place at the Montana State Crime Lab.

A mine official informed MTN News on Sunday that Hanson was engaged in routine maintenance on the east side of the mine at the time of the incident. Operations were promptly halted. The official indicated on Monday that a small crew had resumed work at the mine, although there is no estimated timeline for the full resumption of operations.

The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration is also looking into the incident.
