Anthony Drake Obituary, Death;- A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 65 in northwest Indiana over the weekend, as reported by the Indiana State Police on Monday.
Troopers arrived just before midnight on Sunday to a multi-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of I-65 at mile marker 254 in Lake County, according to police.
The driver of a black 2005 Cadillac had attempted to pull over and was partially stopped in the right lane due to the absence of an emergency shoulder, police stated.
The location of the crash is approximately 1 mile north of U.S. 30, which had a multi-lane shift for construction purposes.
The driver was in the process of refueling their vehicle when a passing Ford Flex struck him, police reported.
Subsequently, the Ford Flex collided with a concrete barrier wall, leading to another crash involving a northbound vehicle and the wall, as per police accounts.
The pedestrian who was struck died at the scene. The Lake County coroner has identified him as Anthony Drake, 58, from Gary. The other drivers involved in the incident received treatment at local hospitals for injuries that were not life-threatening.
